Easy Baked Falafels
If you love some good fried falafels, but want a more healthier alternative, then you should give baking them a try! Falafels are savory, fulfilling, and a great substitute for meat! And no… they do NOT taste like meat, but they are dense, so after eating a few you will no longer feel the need to snack on anything else. Seasoned with our MAHMI Original All-Purpose seasonings, we are sure you’re going to love them as well!
Prep time: 20 mins Cook time: 35 mins
Main Ingredients
2 cups cooked chickpeas
1/2 cup sweet onions, chopped
2 cup green bell peppers, chopped
1/2 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
5 garlic cloves, smashed and sliced
2 tbsp MAHMI Original All-Purpose seasoning
1/2 tsp salt, or salt to taste
4 tbsp all-purpose flour
1 cup Panko breadcrumbs
1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
Recipe Steps
Preheat oven to 375*.
In a food processor, add chickpeas, cilantro, onions, garlic, and green bell peppers.
Pulse ingredients together, scraping down sides as needed until thoroughly combined. All the ingredients should look minced.
Next add MAHMI All-Purpose seasoning, salt and flour.
Plus again until combined; at this point, it should look like a crumbly dough or thick past.
To shape the falafels, take 2 tablespoon of the mixture, shape it into disks, and dip them into the panko breadcrumbs covering each side thoroughly.
To a baking sheet spread olive oil on evenly, then place each falafel making sure they are not touching.
Bake in oven for 20 minutes, then flip and bake for another 15 minutes until brown.
Serve falafels in a pita with tomatoes, lettuce red onions, and tahini sauce, or as I did over a loaded salad with your favorite dressing and enjoy!
